Srinagar, January 28: A five-member investigation team has been constituted by Government Medical College (GMC) Anantnag to probe the jaundice outbreak in Gotligund village, where 27 individuals, primarily children, have tested positive for the disease.
As per an official order accessed by the Kashmir News Observer (KNO), the team has been tasked with identifying the source of the outbreak and recommending preventive and control measures.
Investigation and Action Plan
The probe team is directed to visit Gotligund village and submit a comprehensive action plan to the Principal of GMC Anantnag by the end of this month. Additionally, the team is instructed to provide immediate healthcare interventions to those affected by jaundice in the area.
Team Composition
The investigation team will be led by Dr. Mahbooba Rasool, Associate Professor of Community Medicine at GMC Srinagar. Other members include:
- Dr. Abiroo Jan, Associate Professor of Microbiology
- Dr. Irfan Gul, Associate Professor of General Medicine
- Dr. Asif Aziz, Consultant in Pediatrics
- Aijaz Ahmad, Health Educator at UHTC Brakpora
The team will work to identify the root cause of the outbreak and implement necessary measures to contain the situation and prevent further spread.
