Srinagar, January 13: On Monday, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) praised Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah’s assertion that the area will always defeat those who use violence.

The party also mentioned that statehood will be restored at an appropriate time.

Omar Abdullah had stressed that those who advocate violence would never prevail in Jammu and Kashmir during his remarks at Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Z-Morh Tunnel opening.

Abdullah had declared, “Violent criminals will always lose in Jammu and Kashmir, and we will not let them undermine regional democracy.”

MLA Padder-Nagseni and the BJP’s Leader of the Opposition (LOP) in the J&K Assembly, Sunil Sharma, commented on the comments and said he was grateful for the chief minister’s remarks.

“We applaud Omar Abdullah’s remarks against terrorism. Since the repeal of Article 370, things have significantly changed. Even though there are sporadic incidences, we are convinced that terrorism will soon be eliminated, Sharma told KINS exclusively.

The BJP leader claimed that during his speech, Omar Abdullah raised the subject of statehood. “Remind yourself that the prime minister has said it will be restored when the time is right.”

Sharma further said that the situation in Jammu and Kashmir has changed significantly after the region became a Union Territory.

The state of law and order has significantly improved since the Ministry of Home Affairs assumed leadership. All political parties now realize that the Center would never put up with separatism or terrorism, even those in Jammu and Kashmir,” he continued.

The BJP official further emphasized how Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah had changed the political climate in the area.

Sharma brought up the instance of MP Engineer Rashid, who, in his words, “seems to align with the government’s progress even though he previously rejected the governor’s authority.” He claimed that Engineer Rashid and his group, who previously interrupted the governor’s speeches, were now grateful for the changes that the prime minister and home minister had started.

“Jammu and Kashmir has changed. We think it’s true. Peace has returned, stone-pelting has stopped, and terrorism is declining as a result of the completion of infrastructure like the ring road, railway, highways, and tunnels. This is “Naya Kashmir,” and PM Modi’s government is directly to blame for it,” he stated.

Sharma drew attention to how the once-deteriorated Jammu and Srinagar national route has been transformed.

“Now, things are different. “Much progress has been made, as evidenced by projects like the Ring Road, the Rafiabad-Kupwara road, and the anticipated eight to nine-hour travel time from Kashmir to Delhi,” he said.
