Srinagar, Jan 29: The Jal Shakti Department is set to initiate Phase-1 installation of water meters for commercial establishments, according to Chief Engineer, Kashmir PHE, Braham Jyoti Sharma.

In an interview with Greater Kashmir, Sharma revealed that under the Har Ghar Jal Yojana, 88% of households have already been provided with tap water connections. “So far, we have successfully completed 88% of tap water connections under the Har Ghar Jal Yojana. The progress of the Jal Jeevan Mission is being closely monitored at both central and state levels. The remaining work is underway,” he stated.

The government has set a deadline of March 31, 2025, for the project’s full completion.

Phase-1 Water Meter Installation for Commercial Establishments

Speaking about the judicious use of water, Sharma mentioned that the government is considering the installation of water meters, starting with commercial establishments in Phase-1.

“This initiative is currently under government review. Initially, water meters will be installed in commercial establishments, and later, the project will be extended further as per government directives,” he added.
