Anantnag, Jan 16: The Anantnag-Sinthan-Kishtwar road (NH244) via Sinthan Pass has been closed due to continuous snowfall and adverse weather forecasts, officials announced.
The Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) of Kokernag told JKNS that the decision to close the road was made to prioritize public safety. “With ongoing snowfall at Sinthan Pass and unfavorable weather predictions from the MeT department, traffic on the Anantnag-Sinthan-Kishtwar road will remain suspended until further notice,” he said.
Snow clearance operations will begin as soon as weather conditions improve. Travelers are advised to avoid the route and make alternative arrangements. The administration has urged residents to stay updated with official advisories to ensure their safety.
