North India, including its plains, is expected to experience continuous rain from January 30 to February 5, while hilly states will see rainfall for five days. Uttar Pradesh, in particular, is likely to receive rain from February 3 to 5.

The return of cold conditions in North India has been observed, with mild cold persisting. However, upcoming rainfall is expected to impact the weather significantly. Over the past 24 hours, dense fog has been recorded in Eastern and Western Uttar Pradesh, Meghalaya, Odisha, Bihar, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, and Sikkim.
Western Disturbances and Rainfall Forecast
IMD has reported the arrival of two Western Disturbances between February 1 and 3, which will affect weather patterns across multiple states:
- Jammu & Kashmir, Ladakh – Rain expected from January 30 to February 5.
- Himachal Pradesh – Rainfall anticipated from January 30 to February 5.
- Uttarakhand – Rain forecasted between February 1 and February 5.
- Punjab, Haryana – Likely to experience rain from January 31 to February 5.
- Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan – Rainfall expected between February 3 and 5.
- Arunachal Pradesh, Northeast Assam, Nagaland – Rain likely on January 30 and 31.
Additionally, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim are expected to receive light to moderate rain on January 30 and 31, while Arunachal Pradesh may witness heavy rainfall on January 30.
Southern India Rainfall Forecast
In South India, Tamil Nadu, Karaikal, Kerala, and Mahe are likely to receive rain between January 30 and February 2.
Temperature and Fog Predictions
IMD has predicted a rise of 2–3°C in minimum temperatures across Northwest, East, Central, and West India over the next three days. Dense to very dense fog is expected in Uttar Pradesh until February 1, while Gangetic West Bengal may see fog until January 31. Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim, Bihar, Odisha, Assam, and Meghalaya are likely to experience dense fog until February 2.
Telangana Weather Outlook
In Telangana, morning haze or fog is expected at various locations over the next three days, with minimum temperatures likely to remain normal. Dry weather is expected to persist for the next seven days. The lowest recorded minimum temperature in the state was 13.5°C in Rajendra Nagar, Rangareddy district, on the night of January 30.
Snowfall in Kashmir’s High Altitude Areas
Tourist destinations such as Gulmarg and Pahalgam in Jammu & Kashmir have received light snowfall, while some plains have experienced rain. Kupwara district in North Kashmir recorded light snowfall in upper areas, with rainfall in the plains. The 40-day winter period, “Chillai Kalan,” is set to conclude soon. IMD has predicted light rain and snowfall on Friday, followed by another round of precipitation on Saturday.
