India marked its 76th Republic Day with a grand celebration on January 26, 2025, showcasing its military capabilities, cultural richness, and gender inclusivity. The parade was attended by Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto, making it a historic moment as ASEAN troops participated for the first time in a foreign parade.
The event kicked off with impressive military displays, including marching contingents from the 61 Cavalry and the presentation of advanced weaponry such as the T-90 Bhishma tanks, NAG missile systems, and indigenous drones. This highlighted India’s growing defense capabilities.
For the first time, an all-women tri-services contingent made its way down the Kartavya Path, symbolizing India’s empowerment of women in all sectors of society, from the military to governance.
Over 5,000 artists performed a vibrant mix of over 45 traditional dance forms, further celebrating India’s cultural diversity. Additionally, the Indian Air Force amazed spectators with a breathtaking fly-past, featuring 22 fighter jets, including indigenously developed Tejas aircraft, emphasizing India’s self-reliance in defense technology.
The grand finale included a spectacular display of 46 aircraft, comprising 29 fighter jets, 7 transport aircraft, and 9 helicopters, showcasing the nation’s air power and technological prowess.
This year’s Republic Day celebrations underscored India’s growing global stature, with a strong focus on women’s empowerment, technological advancements, and the preservation of its rich cultural legacy.
