Traffic movement on the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway (NH-44) remained slow due to multiple factors, including:
- Breakdown of three heavy motor vehicles (HMVs)
- Single-lane traffic at Dalwas, Mehad, and Marog-Kishtwari Pather
- Ongoing four-lane construction work
Important Travel Advisory for Commuters
- Daytime Travel Recommended
- Passengers and LMV operators are advised to travel during daylight hours due to the risk of falling rocks between Ramban and Banihal.
- Guidelines for Goods Carriers (HMVs & LMVs)
- Vehicles carrying perishable goods or livestock should adhere to traffic advisories issued by the Traffic Police Headquarters.
- Road conditions remain poor at Dalwas, Mehad, and Marog-Kishtwari Pather, requiring extra caution.

- Avoid overloading and ensure sufficient fuel before beginning your journey.
- Conduct a vehicle fitness check to prevent breakdowns on NH-44.

- Subject to fair weather and road conditions, LMVs (passenger & private cars) and HMVs will be allowed from both Jammu and Srinagar.
- Traffic Control Units (TCU) in Jammu and Srinagar will coordinate with TCU Ramban to assess real-time road conditions.

- If weather permits, security forces will be allowed to travel in both directions on NH-44.
Road Status Updates
- Kishtwar-Sinthan-Anantnag Road (NH-244): Closed per advisory issued on 16-01-2025.
- Srinagar-Sonamarg-Gumari Road (SSG Road):
- One-way traffic from Kargil to Srinagar is permitted for LMVs and HMVs (up to 06 tyres) with anti-skid chains.
- Vehicles will be allowed from Minamarg to Srinagar between 10:00 AM – 3:00 PM. No movement allowed after cut-off time.
- Mughal Road: Closed due to snow accumulation per District Magistrate Poonch’s order dated 18-01-2025.
- Bhaderwah-Chamba Road: Remains closed due to heavy snowfall.
