Traffic Update (05-02-2025, 1700 hrs to 06-02-2025, 1700 hrs)

Traffic movement on the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway (NH-44) remained slow due to multiple factors, including:

  • Breakdown of three heavy motor vehicles (HMVs)
  • Single-lane traffic at Dalwas, Mehad, and Marog-Kishtwari Pather
  • Ongoing four-lane construction work

Important Travel Advisory for Commuters

  1. Daytime Travel Recommended
    • Passengers and LMV operators are advised to travel during daylight hours due to the risk of falling rocks between Ramban and Banihal.
  2. Guidelines for Goods Carriers (HMVs & LMVs)
    • Vehicles carrying perishable goods or livestock should adhere to traffic advisories issued by the Traffic Police Headquarters.
    • Road conditions remain poor at Dalwas, Mehad, and Marog-Kishtwari Pather, requiring extra caution.
  3. Safety Precautions for HMV Operators
    • Avoid overloading and ensure sufficient fuel before beginning your journey.
    • Conduct a vehicle fitness check to prevent breakdowns on NH-44.
  4. Route Regulations for Heavy Vehicles
    • Only HMVs with 06 and 10 tyres are permitted to travel via Dhar Road.
  5. Avoid Unnecessary Stops
    • Commuters should refrain from halting between Ramban and Banihal, particularly near landslide-prone zones.

Traffic Plan for 07-02-2025

  • Subject to fair weather and road conditions, LMVs (passenger & private cars) and HMVs will be allowed from both Jammu and Srinagar.
  • Traffic Control Units (TCU) in Jammu and Srinagar will coordinate with TCU Ramban to assess real-time road conditions.
  • Travelers should check J&K Traffic Police’s Twitter handle and Facebook page for live updates.

Security Forces Convoy Movement

  • If weather permits, security forces will be allowed to travel in both directions on NH-44.
