NH-44: Traffic Movement Guidelines

Subject to favorable weather conditions and improved road status, both Light Motor Vehicles (LMVs), including passenger and private cars, as well as Heavy Motor Vehicles (HMVs), will be permitted to travel in both directions on the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway (NH-44). Traffic Control Units (TCUs) in Jammu and Srinagar will coordinate with TCU Ramban to assess road conditions. Travelers are encouraged to check real-time updates via the J&K Traffic Police Twitter handle and Facebook page before starting their journey.

Security Forces Convoy Movement

If weather conditions remain stable and roads are deemed safe, security force convoys will be permitted to move in both directions along the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway (NH-44).

NH-244: Kishtwar-Sinthan-Anantnag Road

As per the directive issued by the Sub-Divisional Magistrate of Kokernag (Ref: SDM/KNG/2024-25/3139-45 dated 16-01-2025), this route remains closed to vehicular movement. Travelers should plan alternate routes accordingly.

SSG Road (Srinagar-Sonamarg-Gumari)

One-way traffic will be allowed on the Srinagar-Sonamarg-Gumari Road, with light motor vehicles (LMVs) followed by heavy motor vehicles (HMVs) (up to six tyres) permitted from Srinagar towards Kargil. Vehicles will be allowed to move from Sonamarg to Kargil between 10:00 AM and 3:00 PM. No vehicle will be permitted after the cutoff time.
Important: Motorists must carry anti-skid chains to navigate icy and slippery stretches.

Mughal Road

In accordance with District Magistrate Poonch’s order (DMP/JC/7273-92 dated 18-01-2025), Mughal Road remains closed due to snow accumulation.

Bhaderwah-Chamba Road

The Bhaderwah-Chamba Road remains inaccessible due to heavy snow accumulation.
