Traffic Update on NH-44
Traffic movement on NH-44 has been slow due to:
- Single-lane traffic at Dalwas, Mehad, Marog, and Kishtwari Pather
- Ongoing four-lane construction work
Important Travel Advisory
🚗 For Passengers & LMV Operators:
- Travel on the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway (NH-44) during daylight hours due to the risk of shooting stones between Ramban and Banihal.
🚛 For Goods Carrier Operators (HMV/LMV):
- Vehicles carrying perishable goods or livestock should follow the latest advisory issued by the Traffic Police.
- Due to poor road conditions at Dalwas, Mehad, Marog, and Kishtwari Pather, loading must comply with the traffic regulations.
- Avoid overloading and ensure sufficient fuel before starting your journey.
- Double-check vehicle fitness to prevent breakdowns.
🚛 For Heavy Motor Vehicles (HMVs):
- Only 6-tyre and 10-tyre HMVs are permitted on Dhar Road.
⚠️ General Advisory for All Commuters:
- Avoid unnecessary halts between Ramban and Banihal, especially near landslide-prone areas.

✅ Traffic Movement on NH-44:
- Subject to fair weather and road conditions, LMVs, passenger vehicles, and HMVs will be allowed from both directions (Jammu to Srinagar & vice-versa).
- Traffic Control Units (TCU) Jammu & Srinagar will coordinate with TCU Ramban for real-time road updates.

🚧 Kishtwar-Sinthan-Anantnag NH-244:
- Closed for traffic as per Sub-Divisional Magistrate Kokernag’s advisory (Ref: SDM/KNG/2024-25/3139-45, dated 16-01-2025).
🚧 SSG Road (Srinagar-Sonamarg-Gumari):
- One-way traffic only
- Allowed Direction: Srinagar → Kargil
- Timing: 10:00 AM – 3:00 PM
- Mandatory: Vehicles must carry anti-skid chains due to slippery conditions.
🚧 Mughal Road:
- Closed for vehicular movement due to snow accumulation (Ref: District Magistrate Poonch, Order No. DMP/JC/7273-92, dated 18-01-2025).
🚧 Bhaderwah-Chamba Road:
- Closed due to snow accumulation.
