Air India Express has updated its baggage policy, offering passengers more flexibility in luggage limits, but with new fines for those who exceed the allowance. The airline has increased the baggage allowance for travelers, providing additional space for belongings. Here’s everything you need to know about the changes.
Increased Luggage Allowance for Passengers
Previously, Air India Express only allowed passengers to check-in a maximum of 20 kg of baggage. With the new policy, however, passengers are now allowed 30 kg of check-in baggage. Along with this, the cabin baggage limit has been set at 7 kg, allowing two small bags, such as handbags, backpacks, or laptop bags, as long as their combined weight does not exceed 7 kg. Additionally, the size of the cabin bags must not surpass 40 cm x 30 cm x 10 cm to ensure they fit easily under the seat in front.
Special Benefits for Families with Children
Families traveling with young children are being given extra consideration under the updated baggage policy. Air India Express has introduced a provision allowing families to carry an additional 10 kg of baggage. This means families can carry up to 47 kg in total—40 kg for check-in baggage and 7 kg for cabin luggage.
Important Note: Policy Applies Only to Certain Flights
While the updated baggage rules offer additional convenience, it’s important to note that these changes will apply only to international flights from India to the Middle East and Singapore. The baggage policy for other routes, including domestic flights, will remain unchanged, with a 20 kg check-in baggage limit and 7 kg cabin baggage.
These adjustments aim to make travel more convenient for passengers, but be aware: fines will apply if your luggage exceeds the updated weight limits.
