“Saif Ali Khan has come out of surgery and is no longer in danger. He is currently in recovery, with doctors closely monitoring his progress. All family members are safe, and the police are investigating the incident,” the statement read.
The team also expressed gratitude, saying, “We would like to thank Dr. Niraj Uttamani, Dr. Nitin Dange, Dr. Leena Jain, and the team at Lilavati Hospital. Thank you to all his fans and well-wishers for their prayers and thoughts during this time.”
Dixit Gedam, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Zone 9, who is part of the investigation team, confirmed that the probe is ongoing. “Investigation is underway. I can’t disclose the details,” he stated.
The incident occurred at Saif Ali Khan’s residence in the ‘Satguru Sharan’ building in Bandra. An intruder allegedly confronted Khan’s maid, and when Saif attempted to intervene, the situation escalated, resulting in a physical altercation. Khan sustained injuries during the scuffle and was rushed to Lilavati Hospital for treatment.
Dr. Niraj Uttamani, Chief Operating Officer (COO) of Lilavati Hospital, reported that Saif was admitted around 3 a.m. on Thursday. The actor suffered six stab wounds, two of which were deep, with one near his spine. A foreign object was also detected near his spine, according to the hospital’s statement.
Ashoke Pandit, president of the Indian Film and Television Directors Association (IFTDA), condemned the attack in a statement to ANI. “The attack on film star Saif Ali Khan in his own house is a matter of concern. IFTDA condemns this attack. The concern is about the building’s security and how an intruder managed to reach the 12th floor and enter the house. This is a matter for the Mumbai Police to investigate, and we are confident in their capability to handle this,” he said.
