Recently, there has been a surge in cybercrime and fraud cases. The central and state governments are making continuous efforts to curb this. The Bihar government has now taken a significant step. Over 27 lakh SIM cards are set to be closed in Bihar.

Government will close SIM cards: The central government, state authorities, and telecom companies are working together to prevent and control online fraud. In this regard, mobile users in Bihar have some important news. A large number of SIM cards in the state are at risk of being deactivated. The Telecom Ministry has ordered the closure of SIM cards belonging to people who have more than 9 SIM cards.

As reported by ET, around 27 lakh individuals in Bihar have more than 9 SIM cards under their names. If you also have more than 9 SIM cards, you should be cautious. These numbers have been identified by the Telecom Department.

What users need to do:

Those with more than 9 SIM cards have been given 90 days to take action. Within this time frame, users need to inform their telecom company about which numbers they wish to keep active. If the users don’t provide this information, the company will deactivate numbers after the 9th SIM card. There are reports that some people have 100-200 SIM cards under their name.

Recently, cybercrime cases have been on the rise. In light of increasing cyber fraud, this measure has been introduced. A few years ago, there were no restrictions on the number of SIM cards one could buy, but now the rule is clear: a person can only have 9 active SIM cards per ID.

24 lakh SIM cards from private companies:

Out of the 27 lakh numbers selected for deactivation, around 24 lakh belong to private telecom companies, while BSNL (the government telecom service) accounts for about 3 lakh. Both private and government companies have been notified, and now these companies need to inform their customers.
