Jammu-Srinagar National Highway (NH-44)

Traffic Movement:

  • Subject to fair weather and road conditions, all types of vehicles, including passenger cars, private vehicles, and heavy motor vehicles (HMVs), will be allowed from both sides—from Jammu to Srinagar and vice versa.
  • The Traffic Control Units (TCU) in Jammu and Srinagar will coordinate with TCU Ramban to monitor road conditions.
  • Travel Tip: Before starting your journey, check the latest updates on the J&K Traffic Police Twitter handle and Facebook page.

Security Forces Movement:

  • If the weather and road conditions permit, security convoys will also be allowed to travel in both directions on NH-44.

Other Route Updates

🔴 Kishtwar-Sinthan-Anantnag NH-244:

  • This route remains closed for vehicular movement as per the advisory issued by the Sub-Divisional Magistrate, Kokernag (Ref: SDM/KNG/2024-25/3139-45, dated 16-01-2025).

Srinagar-Sonamarg-Gumari (SSG) Road:

  • Current Status: Snowfall is ongoing.
  • For Tomorrow: If the weather and road conditions improve (based on clearance from maintenance agencies), only one-way traffic will be allowed:
    • Direction: Srinagar to Kargil
    • Vehicle Type: Light motor vehicles (LMVs) followed by HMVs (up to 6 tyres)
    • Travel Window: 10:00 AM – 3:00 PM (Vehicles will not be allowed after the cut-off time).
  • Important: Motorists must carry anti-skid chains for better grip on slippery roads.

🚫 Mughal Road:

  • Closed due to snow accumulation, as per District Magistrate Poonch’s order (DMP/JC/7273-92, dated 18-01-2025).

🚫 Bhaderwah-Chamba Road:

  • Still closed due to heavy snowfall.
