The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has announced the notification for the Civil Services (Preliminary) Examination 2025, which will take place on May 25, 2025. Application Process:

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Age Limit: Candidates must be between 21 and 32 years old as of August 1, 2025. Age relaxations apply to specific categories.
  • Educational Qualification: A bachelor’s degree from a recognized university.
  • Nationality: Indian citizens, or citizens of Nepal/Bhutan, or Tibetan refugees who arrived in India before January 1, 1962, with the intent to settle permanently.

Examination Structure:

  • Preliminary Examination:
    • Paper I: General Studies – 200 marks
    • Paper II: Civil Services Aptitude Test (CSAT) – 200 marks
    • Both papers are objective type with negative marking for incorrect answers.
  • Main Examination:
    • Includes nine papers, such as two qualifying papers (Indian Language and English), one essay paper, four General Studies papers, and two papers on an optional subject.
    • Total marks for the Main Examination are 1750.
  • Personality Test:
    • Conducted for those who qualify the Main Examination, with a weight of 275 marks.
